It is expected that approximately 20 two-year undergraduate scholarships will be awarded annually to rising students typically entering their third year of education at a college or university. Students awarded scholarships under this program will be provided an internship opportunity at a NASA center performing aeronautical research between their junior and senior year. The scholarship award includes: Up to $15,000 awarded for each school year, to be used for tuition, room and board, or other school-related costs Summer internship at a NASA Research Center with a stipend in an amount up to $10,000. You do not have to be accepted into a program at the time your application is submitted; however, should you be selected, the award is contingent upon your admission to a suitable aeronautical engineering academic program or related field of study at an accredited U.S. college or university. Example related fields of study include, but are not limited to, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Mathematics. Must have at least two (2) years of full time study left to complete at an accredited U.S. college or university as of Fall 2008. Merit-based scholarships are available from the State of Texas for freshmen studying engineering. These scholarships, up to $5,000 per year, were provided for through House Bill 2978 and passed by the 80th legislature. To be eligible for the scholarship the student must:
• Have been in the top 20% of their high school graduating class;
• Have had a 3.5/4.0 GPR on all high school math and science courses;
• Enroll in an undergraduate engineering program; and
• Maintain a 3.0/4.0 GPR at the university in they enroll.
Scholarships awarded in a given academic year do not represent an entitlement for future awards. Recipients of a scholarship in one year may compete for scholarships in subsequent years. |

1. Undesignated scholarships - These corporate-sponsored scholarships range in value from $1,000 to $10,000. To qualify, the applicant must enroll in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) at a university of the applicant's choice.
