“In the future I hope to be studying the sciences and researching medicine or biotechnology. My future is related to biomedical engineering or researching biology and the human body. The skills I have learned through the engineering pathway have really helped me realize that my future is in biomedical engineering or the STEM field, specifically the sciences. I love studying, research, and finding solutions to difficult problems so a career in research such as biology or biomedical engineering is something I want to pursue.…”

MAXWELL GROSS
ATTENDING TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY IN FALL 2021
“Within civil engineering, I intend to study structural engineering and how to design and analyze structural systems for buildings, bridges, and other civil structures. I aspire to take part in research projects and engineering organizations that coincide with my major to gain more hands-on experience and better knowledge on the physics behind structural systems. I want my career to challenge me, so I have the ability to expand my knowledge and technical skillset. My desire to become an engineer only grew further from my engineering classes because it afforded me the ability to improve my ability to design. Additionally, by improving upon my foundation in python and java from computer science courses, I would be able to create programs for the structural analysis and robotic aspects of engineering…”

MARCOS MORALES-MARTINEZ
ATTENDING NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY IN FALL 2021
“I aim to create a revolutionary material that can change an aspect of our lives for the better. For example, NASA created Aerogel, which has become a great aid in the insulation of rockets against the harsh atmosphere of space. Even something as simple as the plastic we see used in milk jugs and water bottles that allows them to be so affordable has inspired me to take on the challenge of becoming a materials scientist. Breaking down how something works and finding the fundamental forces behind it is intriguing to me, and college is a path I can use to learn about those properties. A job after graduation will teach me how to utilize that knowledge even further to help improve our lives.
As for my plans in education, I plan to get my bachelor’s degree and then go on to graduate school, possibly earning a PhD. I plan to major in materials science engineering with a minor in mechanical engineering…”
