On Tuesday June 1, the curtain was lowered and for the first time the public was able to view the 2010 Aurora Solar Car. This is the car that will be racing in the 2010 Hunt-Winston solar car race this summer from Dallas to Denver. The high school solar car team has been working dilligently for two years, designing, fabricating and building this car.
Congratulations to Zachary Slayter and Reihaneh Hajibeigi, recipients of our first annual Engineering Booster Club Scholarship awards!
Each was awarded $250 based on their effort and commitments to the program this year. The announcement was made at the engineering banquet.
First Annual Engineering Banquet Held
Our first annual end of the year banquet was held May 18, 2010 at Hard 8 BBQ. It was a great event with good food, and lots of recognition for the effort and achievements of the students, teachers, booster members and volunteers throughout the year. In addition the new booster board was introduced and the scholarship recipients were announced.

Mad Cows stampede Oklahoma City
Our FIRST Robotics team (The Mad Cows) performed well at their first ever FRC event in Oklahoma City and is already gearing up for next year's event. See the video below to find out more about their big rookie debut!
Solar Team has new Website
The Coppell Solar Racing Team has created a new website for promoting the project to design, build, test and race a solar car named Aurora this summer in the Hunt Winston Solar Car Race. Check it out!
School of Engineering Receives Statewide Recognition
Texas School Business magazine recently announced that Coppell ISD's School of Engineering is one of 12 initiatives to be honored in the magazine's third annual Bragging Rights special issue. Bragging Rights recognizes school districts that have implemented programs that are bettering the lives of students, schools and communities.
“We were impressed by Coppell ISD's robust program, which is proving to be wildly popular among the students,” says Texas School Business Editor Katie Ford. “Coppell ISD's School of Engineering is a model program, and we're proud to highlight it as an example of excellence in Texas public education.”
Thanks very much to all who took part and attended the Second Annual Coppell Engineering Expo held on November 15, 2009! With your support the Expo was a huge success, with an attendance of approximately 2500 people!
